The GCT owns and operates four Greek Orthodox Churches. The services of the church are in accordance to the Greek Orthodox calendar and are conducted every Sunday and on special feast days designated by the church. Baptisms, weddings and funerals are regular church ceremonies performed throughout the year. Sunday school religious education is offered to students between the ages 4 to 18.
Each church is managed by a church council consisting of directors and volunteer members appointed by the General Council. The church council meets monthly, except during the summer.
Each church also has a Philoptochos Ladies Society which consists of women from the congregation that volunteer their time for regular activities such as providing food and beverage services to the parishioners, assisting in various Community events and raising money for the poor and needy of our city, regardless of ethnicity or religion.

The church is an important social formation that has contributed significantly to the successful adjustment of Greek immigrants into Canadian society. By serving the spiritual needs of Greek Canadians, the church has provided a sense of belonging, strength and cohesion and facilitated the maintenance and transmission of Hellenic history, roots and values for the future development of our descendants. |
