Ancient Greek

This class will provide students with  an introduction to Ancient Greek. It will introduce students to the alphabet, vocabulary, grammar, and syntax of Ancient Greek, and provide students with a solid foundation for reading Ancient Greek. While the first part of the class will focus on basic Greek grammar, the course overall will have a strong reading focus.

We will emphasize the development of reading skills, and students will begin reading short texts almost immediately. This class will also have a written component, which will be helpful for understanding the syntax of Ancient Greek. The class will also have an online component. Class materials and readings will be online, as will grammatical lessons and exercises, which students will be able to access and use throughout the week.

The class will meet once per week in the evenings. Classes will begin in mid September and run until June. Approximately 100 (in class) hours are offered. Books and other reading materials are not included in the fees. The program is organized in three periods with 30-35 instruction hours per period. At the end of each period there is an assessment test and feedback is given by the teachers on students' progress.
